Modeling

SysML for modelling purposes

Why use a modelling language hardly anyone speaks? Do we actually need a generic language? Why do we model systems, who will be using them and to what purpose? A lot of questions to consider in order to effectively communicate, understand and simplify the complexity of a system. Rail infrastructure as an enabling system for transportation services, often deals with various legacy systems which over time have resulted in complicated solutions. Many stakeholder roles, lots of operational processes and complex interactions within a ‘system of systems’. How do you keep track of all these relations? What type of model do you need for analysing, understanding and communicating the once hidden knowledge in order to secure this information for the future.
